Notion AI is no longer sold as an add-on. Full Notion AI comes with the Business plan, which costs $20 per member a month billed yearly or $24 billed monthly. The Free and Plus plans include only a limited trial of the AI features, and Enterprise is priced on request. Custom Agents, Notion's autonomous agents, are metered separately at $10 per 1,000 Notion credits once the free trial allowance runs out.
That is the short answer, and it is worth stating plainly because a good share of the pages ranking for this search still describe a $10 or $8 per member AI add-on you can bolt onto any plan. Notion's pricing page no longer offers one. If your team is on Plus and wants the AI, the price is the move to Business, applied to every member of the workspace. The figures below are read off Notion's own pricing page in US dollars, with the billing toggle set each way.
How much does Notion AI cost?
Notion prices per member per month. A member is anyone with full access to the workspace; guests you invite to individual pages are not billed as members. Here is what each plan costs and how much of Notion AI it actually includes.
| Plan | Billed yearly | Billed monthly | Notion AI | AI Meeting Notes | Custom Agents |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | Limited trial | Limited trial | No |
| Plus | $10 | $12 | Limited trial | Limited trial | No |
| Business | $20 | $24 | Included | Included | Free to try, then $10 per 1,000 credits |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Included, with zero data retention at the AI providers | Included | Free to try, then $10 per 1,000 credits |
On Business, "included" covers Notion Agent (chat, writing, database autofill and translation), AI Meeting Notes, Enterprise Search across connected tools such as Slack, Microsoft Teams and GitHub, and a research mode that writes longer reports from your workspace and the web. Enterprise Search and research mode are still labeled beta on the pricing page.
Is Notion AI free?
Not in any useful sense for a team. Free and Plus workspaces get a limited trial of Notion AI and of AI Meeting Notes, enough to see what the features do on real pages. Once the trial allowance is gone, the only way to keep using them is to upgrade the workspace to Business. There is no paid AI switch on Plus any more.
For one person, the trial is a reasonable way to judge whether the summaries and autofill are good enough before paying. For a team, plan on Business from the start if the AI is the reason you are buying.
What happened to the Notion AI add-on?
Notion used to sell AI as a per-member add-on that sat on top of any plan, typically around $8 a month billed yearly or $10 monthly. In May 2025 it stopped selling that add-on to new customers and folded the full AI feature set into Business and Enterprise. The current pricing page lists no AI add-on at all, which is the practical test: if you cannot find it on notion.com/pricing, you cannot buy it.
The change is why older articles, and some newer ones copied from them, give a cheaper answer than you will actually pay. For a Plus team the real cost of AI is the difference between Plus and Business, not a $10 add-on.
What a team pays for Notion AI in a year
Because Business is the AI plan, the annual cost is simply members multiplied by the Business price. The column most finance teams care about is the extra spend over staying on Plus.
| Members | Business, billed yearly | Business, billed monthly | Extra over Plus, billed yearly |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | $1,200 | $1,440 | $600 |
| 10 | $2,400 | $2,880 | $1,200 |
| 25 | $6,000 | $7,200 | $3,000 |
| 50 | $12,000 | $14,400 | $6,000 |
Two billing details change those numbers in practice. First, annual billing saves about 17 percent on Business ($20 against $24), so a team that is sure of its headcount should pay yearly. Second, the plan applies to the workspace, so you cannot put five people on Business for the AI and leave twenty on Plus inside the same workspace. If only a few people need AI Meeting Notes, that is the decision to think hardest about.
How Notion Custom Agents are billed
Custom Agents are the one part of Notion AI with a usage meter. They run repetitive tasks on their own, such as triaging a request database or writing a weekly digest, and they consume Notion credits. The pricing page describes them as free to try, then $10 per 1,000 credits. Notion Workers, which run custom code for agents, draw on the same credits.
We have not printed a cost per agent run because Notion does not publish how many credits a typical task consumes, and it will vary with how much your agent reads and writes. Budget a small credit allowance for the first month, watch the usage page, and set the monthly amount from what you actually see.
Is Notion AI worth it for a business?
It is worth it when your team already works in Notion and the knowledge it needs lives there. Asking a question across your wiki, project databases and meeting notes, and getting an answer that cites the page, is the thing Notion AI does better than a general chatbot, because it can see your workspace. AI Meeting Notes is also good value if Business was on your list anyway for SAML SSO and private teamspaces, since you are not paying extra for the notetaker.
It is a weaker buy when the AI is the only reason to upgrade. A ten-person team moving from Plus to Business pays $1,200 more a year on annual billing, and the pieces of Notion AI it will use most (writing help, summaries and Q&A) are also available from a general assistant such as ChatGPT Business, at $20 per seat a month billed annually with a two-seat minimum, or Claude Team, at $20 per seat on annual billing. Those do not see your Notion pages the way Notion AI does, so the comparison turns on how much of your work is actually in Notion.
Notion AI also stops at the edge of the workspace. Its Q&A covers your pages and connected tools, and its database autofill covers Notion databases. If the question your team keeps asking lives in a production database instead, an AI data analyst that turns plain-English questions into SQL is the tool for that job, not a workspace assistant.
What Notion AI does not do
The gap most buyers notice a few weeks in is the work around the inbox and the calendar. Notion AI is strongest inside Notion. Notion Mail and Notion Calendar are separate apps, and none of the three is sold as an assistant that reads the client email asking to move Thursday's call, proposes three times that fit your real calendar, sends the invite once you agree, writes the recap into your files and then chases the follow-up a week later when nobody replied. That end-to-end admin loop is not what the Business plan prices.
That work is what OfficeAgent is built for. It drafts replies in Gmail or Outlook in your tone, books meetings against your calendar, writes the recap after the call and chases follow-ups until the thread closes, and nothing is sent until a person approves it. It costs $149 a month for one person or $399 a month for an office of up to ten people, with yearly billing at half those monthly rates. Plenty of teams run both: Notion for the knowledge, an assistant for the admin around it.

Frequently asked questions
How much is Notion AI per month?
Notion AI comes with the Business plan, which costs $20 per member a month billed yearly or $24 billed monthly. There is no separate AI charge on Business beyond Custom Agents, which use credits at $10 per 1,000. The Free and Plus plans only include a limited trial of Notion AI.
Can I buy Notion AI on the Plus plan?
No. Notion stopped selling the AI add-on to new customers in May 2025, and the pricing page no longer offers it. Plus includes a limited trial of the AI features. To keep using Notion AI after the trial, the workspace has to move to Business at $20 per member a month billed yearly.
Is Notion AI included in the Business plan?
Yes. Business includes Notion Agent for chat, writing and database autofill, AI Meeting Notes, Enterprise Search across connected apps and research mode, at no extra per-member charge. Only Custom Agents carry a usage cost, at $10 per 1,000 Notion credits after the free trial allowance.
Does Notion AI charge every member of the workspace?
Effectively, yes. Notion bills the plan per member, and the plan applies to the whole workspace, so upgrading to Business for the AI upgrades every member. Guests invited to individual pages are not billed as members. A team that only needs AI for a few people should weigh that before upgrading.
