ChatGPT Business Pricing and ChatGPT Team Pricing for Every Seat Type

ChatGPT Team is now called ChatGPT Business, and its price dropped in April. Here is what a Standard and a Premium seat cost, what a team of 2 to 50 pays in a year, when Premium is worth five times the money, and which admin work a chat assistant still leaves on your desk.

$20 to $25 per Standard seat a month, billed yearly or monthly $100 to $125 per Premium seat a month, with 5x the usage 2 seats minimum per workspace, Standard and Premium can be mixed
How it works

In one answer

ChatGPT Business costs $25 per user a month billed monthly or $20 billed annually for a Standard seat. Premium seats, with five times the usage, cost $125 a month or $100 billed annually. Every workspace needs at least two seats, and Standard and Premium can be mixed. ChatGPT Team is the same plan under its old name; Enterprise is quoted by sales.

How much does ChatGPT Business cost

ChatGPT Business is priced per user, and you choose a seat type for each person. A Standard seat costs $25 a month on monthly billing or $20 a month when billed annually. A Premium seat costs $125 a month, or $100 a month billed annually. Annual billing is therefore 20 percent cheaper on both seat types, which is $60 per Standard seat a year and $300 per Premium seat.

The smallest possible workspace is two seats. OpenAI's help center is explicit that the minimum can be met with a mix, so one Standard and one Premium seat is a valid starting workspace. Two Standard seats on annual billing come to $480 a year, which is the real entry price for a business that wants ChatGPT with admin controls and a no-training default.

If you are reading a guide that says Business costs $25 a seat on annual billing and $30 monthly, it was written before April 2, 2026. On that date OpenAI cut $5 a month off subscription seats, and existing customers saw the lower price on their next bill with a prorated credit for the difference. Several of the articles still ranking for this search have not caught up.

Is ChatGPT Team the same as ChatGPT Business

Yes. OpenAI renamed ChatGPT Team to ChatGPT Business on August 29, 2025, and its own rename FAQ says it was a name change only, with no change to features, pricing, usage limits or security at the time. Workspaces created as Team simply show the new name. That is why "ChatGPT Team pricing" and "ChatGPT Business pricing" return the same plan, and why both phrases still get searched.

The price change came later and separately, in April 2026. So the safe way to read any older article is this: if it says "Team", the features are probably still right and the price is probably $5 too high.

What a ChatGPT Business seat includes

Both seat types get the same product. That covers ChatGPT with the current models, Codex for coding work, agent mode for multistep tasks, file uploads and data analysis, custom GPTs shared inside the workspace, and the connected apps. For an office, the connectors that matter are Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Contacts, plus Outlook email and calendar and Microsoft Teams, which ChatGPT can search and read when someone asks it a question.

The business layer is what you are really paying for over a personal plan. Admins get a workspace console, centralized billing, SAML or OIDC single sign-on at no extra charge, and controls over which apps people can connect. OpenAI does not use Business workspace data, including data pulled in through connectors, to train its models by default.

The difference between the two seat types is volume. A Premium seat gets five times the usage of a Standard seat and no five-hour usage window. If a Standard user hits the ceiling occasionally, the workspace can also buy flexible credits that extend usage past the included limits, which is often cheaper than upgrading that person to Premium.

What a team pays for ChatGPT Business in a year

Finance will ask for the annual number, so here it is worked out. A Standard seat is $240 a year on annual billing or $300 paying monthly. A Premium seat is $1,200 a year on annual billing or $1,500 monthly. The table further down multiplies those out from 2 to 50 seats. Three things stand out once you see the totals.

  • Monthly billing costs a 10-person Standard workspace $600 more a year than annual billing ($3,000 against $2,400). Pay monthly only if you expect headcount to fall.
  • Premium is where budgets break. Ten Premium seats on annual billing are $12,000 a year, five times the Standard bill. Most offices need two or three Premium seats at most, for the people who run long analysis or coding sessions.
  • A mixed workspace is usually the right answer. Eight Standard and two Premium seats on annual billing come to $4,320 a year ($1,920 plus $2,400), against $12,000 for putting everyone on Premium.

ChatGPT Plus vs Business for a small team

ChatGPT Plus is $20 a month for one person on a personal account. A Business Standard seat costs the same $20 a month on annual billing, or $5 more paying monthly. So for anyone using ChatGPT for work, the question is not really price. It is whether the company needs to own the account.

Business is the right choice the moment more than one person uses ChatGPT on company data. You get a workspace the company controls, the ability to remove a departing employee's access, single sign-on, and a no-training default on everything in the workspace. Plus accounts are personal: when the person leaves, the account, its history and its settings leave with them. The two-seat minimum is the only reason a true one-person business might stay on Plus.

Is ChatGPT Business worth it

For writing, research, analysis and answering questions about documents, yes, and at $20 a seat it is one of the best-value pieces of software a small business can buy. If your team does a lot of drafting, ChatGPT Business or Claude Team at the same per-seat price should be on the shortlist, and we would not tell you otherwise.

Where it does less is the administrative loop that eats an office manager's day. ChatGPT can read your Gmail and calendar when you ask it something, and agent mode can carry out a task you describe. It is built around a person opening it and asking. It does not watch the shared inbox, notice that a client asked for a meeting, propose times from three calendars, book the slot once you approve, write the recap afterward and chase the follow-up four days later when nobody replied.

That standing work is what OfficeAgent does. It runs in Gmail or Outlook, drafts replies for your approval, schedules from your real calendar, files attachments and keeps every follow-up moving until the thread closes. It costs $149 a month for one person ($888 billed yearly) or $399 a month for an office of up to ten people ($2,388 billed yearly). Many teams run both: ChatGPT for thinking and writing, OfficeAgent for the inbox and calendar. See our pricing or the best AI assistant for small business roundup for how the categories compare.

How to choose seats in five minutes

Most teams can settle the order form without talking to sales. Work through these in order.

  • One person, no colleagues on the account: Plus at $20 a month is fine until a second person needs access.
  • Two to 20 people writing, summarizing and researching: Business Standard on annual billing, $240 per person a year.
  • Someone runs long data analysis, heavy coding in Codex or hits the limit weekly: give that person a Premium seat, not the whole team.
  • Occasional overflow from Standard users: buy flexible credits before upgrading seats.
  • A security review that needs SCIM, audit logs or data residency, or a large headcount: ask for an Enterprise quote, which OpenAI does not publish.
  • The real pain is the inbox, the calendar and chasing replies: price an AI scheduling and inbox assistant for the people who carry that load, alongside or instead of extra seats.

Questions on this

How much does ChatGPT Business cost?

ChatGPT Business costs $25 per user a month on monthly billing or $20 per user a month billed annually for a Standard seat. Premium seats cost $125 a month or $100 billed annually and include five times the usage. Every workspace needs at least two seats, so the smallest annual bill is $480.

How much is ChatGPT Team per user?

ChatGPT Team is now called ChatGPT Business, and it costs $20 per user a month billed annually or $25 billed monthly for a Standard seat. OpenAI renamed the plan on August 29, 2025 without changing features or limits, then cut the price by $5 a seat on April 2, 2026.

Is there a minimum number of users for ChatGPT Business?

Yes. A ChatGPT Business workspace needs at least two seats. The minimum can be met with any mix of seat types, so one Standard and one Premium seat is allowed. A single person who does not need a company-owned account can use ChatGPT Plus at $20 a month instead.

What is the difference between ChatGPT Plus and Business?

Plus is a personal account for one person at $20 a month. Business is a company workspace with a two-seat minimum, admin console, single sign-on, centralized billing, shared GPTs and a default that workspace data is not used to train OpenAI models. A Business Standard seat costs the same $20 a month on annual billing.

What does a ChatGPT Business Premium seat get you?

A Premium seat gets five times the usage of a Standard seat and no five-hour usage window, with the same features otherwise. It costs $100 a month billed annually or $125 monthly. It suits people doing long analysis or heavy coding; most office staff are well served by Standard.

Does ChatGPT Business use my data for training?

No, not by default. OpenAI states that it does not use data from ChatGPT Business workspaces for model training, and that includes information ChatGPT reads through connected apps such as Gmail, Google Calendar and Outlook. Admins also control which connected apps members are allowed to use.

Can ChatGPT Business manage my email and calendar?

ChatGPT Business can connect to Gmail, Google Calendar and Outlook and read them when you ask, and agent mode can complete a task you describe. It does not run as a standing assistant that triages the inbox, books meetings and chases follow-ups on its own, which is the job an AI office assistant such as OfficeAgent does.

Is ChatGPT Business worth it for a small business?

For drafting, research and analysis, yes. At $20 a seat on annual billing it is excellent value, and the admin controls and no-training default justify it over personal Plus accounts. If the bigger cost is time spent on email, scheduling and follow-ups, pair it with an assistant built for that work.
