How it works

In one answer

An AI assistant for Slack works inside your workspace as a bot. Officeagent sends a daily digest DM, lets you approve email drafts and invites with one click in Slack, captures tasks from channel messages, and answers questions about your inbox, calendar and tasks.

Approve it. Nothing sends without you.

In the product you edit the draft right here; the agent learns your correction.

Officeagent drafted, you approved, it executed.

Nothing is sent until you approve it. Every action is logged.

Your Slack AI assistant is a DM away, all day

Every morning the bot sends one digest DM: what arrived overnight, which drafts are waiting for approval, which follow-ups fire today and which tasks are due. Each pending item carries Approve and Edit buttons, so the queue that powers the AI email assistant clears from Slack while the kettle boils, without opening another tab.

The DM is also a place to ask. "What did Meridian reply?", "Am I free Thursday afternoon?", "What is still open on the Hartley onboarding?" The assistant answers from your connected email, calendar and task list, with links back to the source thread so you can verify anything in one click.

  • One digest DM each morning: inbox, approvals, follow-ups, tasks
  • Approve, edit or reject any pending draft without leaving Slack
  • Ask plain-language questions about email, calendar and tasks
  • Nudges when an approval has been waiting too long

Task capture from channels, before things fall through

Half the commitments in an office are made in Slack channels and never written down. In channels you invite it to, Officeagent spots action-shaped messages, "can someone send the deck by Friday", proposes them as tasks with an owner and a date, and adds them to your list only when a human confirms. The result feeds the same AI task manager that tracks everything else, so channel promises and email promises live on one list.

  • Reads only channels the bot is explicitly invited to
  • Proposes tasks with owner and due date, never silently creates them
  • Confirmed tasks land in the same list as email and meeting actions
  • Weekly recap of what was captured and what got done

What Slack permissions the bot needs, and why

The Slack app requests the minimum bot scopes for the job. Permission to send you DMs powers the digest and the approval buttons. Channel history access applies only to channels the bot is invited to, and it reads nothing else in the workspace: no private channels it is not in, no other members' DMs, ever. Approval actions in Slack are the same logged approvals as in the web app, tied to your Slack identity.

Remove the bot from a channel and it forgets that channel; remove the app and the connection is gone. The approval pipeline itself is described end to end on the how it works page.

Questions on this

Can the bot read all of our Slack?

No. It reads only channels it is explicitly invited to, plus its own DM with each user. Private channels it is not in and other people's DMs are invisible to it, by Slack's own permission model.

Is approving from Slack as safe as approving from the web app?

Yes, it is the same queue. A tap on Approve in Slack is recorded in the same audit log, tied to your identity, and the email or invite goes out through the connected Gmail or Outlook account exactly as if you had approved it in the browser.

Does it post into our channels?

Only if you ask it to. By default everything happens in your DM. You can optionally let it post a weekly task recap to a channel of your choice, and that is the whole footprint.

What happens if I ignore the digest for a day?

Nothing sends. Drafts wait in the queue, follow-ups hold, and the next digest lists what is still pending with age markers. Silence never counts as approval.
